Class teacher Christine Hanft is very proud of her children in the German class at St Hedwig School - and quite rightly so. After all, the boys and girls acted on their own initiative and removed the graffiti left by strangers in their schoolyard. The schoolyard gate, the slide, the benches: strangers had painted their lettering and drawings everywhere. So the pupils set to work in the afternoon during their playtime with water and cloths and cleaned all the objects. The next day there were new graffiti. Instead of giving up, the little ones set to work again with the caretaker. "It's been quiet since then," says Christine Hanft happily. And the children hope it stays that way. "We like going to our school because it's beautiful," said one pupil.
