Cycling in Kitzingen

The Main cycle path

Kitzingen lies directly on the Main Cycle Route, which offers almost 600 km of cycling pleasure from its source in the Fichtelgebirge mountains to its mouth in Mainz. The Main Cycle Route was the first route to be awarded a ‘five-star quality cycle route’ rating by the Allgemeiner Deutscher Fahrrad-Club. It is now one of the most popular long-distance cycle routes in Germany and attracts many visitors to Kitzingen every year.

You can obtain a brochure on the May cycle route from our tourist information centre, on request for brochures or during a personal visit.

Cycle path from the Main to the Zenn

From the Steigerwald Nature Park to the Franconian Heights

Stretching for almost 100 kilometres, the long-distance cycle route “From the Main to the Zenn” winds its way through the diverse cultural and natural landscape of Lower and Middle Franconia, finally ending just outside Nuremberg. Starting from Bleichwasen in Kitzingen, one of the route’s starting and finishing points, the route continues on to Neustadt an der Aisch or to Langenzenn and Veitsbronn. Historic vineyards, idyllic wine-growing villages, the Middle Franconian Bocksbeutel Route and the Steigerwald Nature Park with its extensive woodlands characterise the cycle route.

Along the route, in addition to towns of cultural and historical interest, such as castles and museums, there are also towns and villages well worth visiting, as well as plenty of opportunities to stop for a bite to eat and enjoy the scenery. Those wishing to cycle only sections of the route can make use of the excellent transport links (VGN) at one of the many railway stations. Connections to other well-known long-distance cycle routes, such as the Main Cycle Route (Kitzingen) and the Regnitz Cycle Route (Fürth), are available.
