Kitzingen wine trail
Wine, nature, history - along the Kitzinger Hofrat vineyard
Wine, nature and history: the Kitzingen Wine Trail embodies this combination. It winds its way through the Kitzinger Hofrat vineyard, linking 19 stops that recount the history of wine in the old wine-trading town of Kitzingen, such as the Kitzingen Wine Law of 1482.
Naturally, the wines grown at the “Hofrat” are also a focus of the trail: from Riesling, Silvaner and Müller-Thurgau to Domina. Over the course of 4 km, past historic vineyard walls and Kitzingen’s first drinking water spring, you walk alongside a sea of vines. Halfway along the route, we recommend a detour to the wine shop of the Franken Winegrowers’ Association to taste or purchase the single-vineyard wines. At the end of the trail, Kitzingen town centre is not far away, and you can visit the historic centre after your walk.
The route has been certified by the Franconian Wine Region with the "Wege zum Wein" quality seal. The "Wege zum Wein" quality seal is awarded only to routes that truly allow visitors to experience the vineyards on foot. A map and elevation profile of the route can be found here
