Description of the
The Building Management Department is responsible for the maintenance of properties (e.g. school buildings, building yards and administrative buildings).
Depending on the circumstances, the tasks may also include day-to-day building maintenance, carried out by the organisation’s own staff, as well as the planning, tendering and supervision of conversion and refurbishment works carried out by contractors.
Larger refurbishment and new-build projects may be awarded to architectural practices and relevant specialist engineering firms. In such cases, the building authority may take on the role of representing the client and managing the project for the relevant works.
