Description of the
The so-called ‘self-disclosure’ from the population register is a specific form of the right of access under Article 15 of the General Data Protection Regulation. It is subject to restrictions in the exceptional cases set out in Section 11 of the Federal Registration Act.
Deadlines
- Log data relating to automated queries and automated basic extracts from the population register are stored for at least 12 months and deleted no later than the end of the calendar year following the year in which they were stored. Data relating to non-automated basic and extended extracts from the population register are deleted after one year.
- If you move out of the jurisdiction of a registration authority, that authority is obliged, once certain time limits have expired, to delete some of the data it holds (Sections 13 and 14 of the Federal Registration Act). Once these time limits have expired, a self-disclosure statement can no longer be issued in respect of this data.
