Description of the
If your passport or provisional passport is lost, you are obliged to report this immediately to the passport office in your local authority (place of residence).
You must also notify the passport office if you find your passport again. As a new document is usually issued, this is essential. It is also recommended that you apply for a new passport to avoid any problems when using it.

Failure to report this to the passport office, or failure to do so in good time, constitutes an administrative offence which may be punishable by a fine.
Even if you have reported your passport as lost, foreign authorities may not recognise a passport that has been reported as recovered for use in their country, or they may confiscate it. It is therefore recommended that you apply for a new passport if your passport is lost or stolen.
