Description of the
With the introduction of the new ID card, the electronic residence permit and the eID card with the eID function, the prerequisites for unique identification on the Internet have been created. The data stored on your ID card can be requested and used by service providers with a valid authorisation certificate.
The following data can be read by providers on the Internet or from vending machines as part of the online ID function if you agree to the encrypted transmission by entering your personal PIN:
1. Surname,
1a. Maiden name,
2. First names,
3. Doctorate,
4. Date of birth,
5. Place of birth,
6. Address,
6a. Unique local authority code used in the official local authority register,
6b. Abbreviation for nationality,
7. Document type,
7a. Last day of validity,
8. Service- and card-specific identifier,
9. Abbreviation “D” for Federal Republic of Germany,
10. Indication of whether a specific age has been exceeded or not yet reached,
11. Indication of whether a place of residence corresponds to the place of residence queried,
12. Order name, stage name. This data is not transmitted completely, automatically or with every application. Whether and which data is released and transmitted depends on the authorisation certificate of the online service provider and your consent. Only the information on validity and whether the ID card is blocked is transmitted in all cases.
The service provider cannot access any other data stored on the chip (which, in the case of an identity card, includes biometric data such as a photograph and fingerprints).
At the request of the ID card holder, the ID card authority will grant access to the readable data stored in the electronic storage and processing medium. To do so, you must go to the ID card authority in person. This also applies to eID cards and electronic residence permits.
Using the ID card app on the NFC-enabled smartphone or a USB card reader, you can also view your data via smartphone, computer or tablet and gain read access to your data in the ID card by entering your PIN via the provider of this online service. Your personal data will not be stored, transferred or further processed in other applications.
