Description of the
The providers of youth leisure centres can be municipalities, churches or other independent youth welfare organisations (e.g. Bavarian Red Cross, local associations). As a rule, the local youth welfare office is responsible for technical supervision.
Youth centres usually employ social pedagogues, social workers, educators or other educational specialists.
Youth centres offer children and young people non-binding meeting places (some with games such as table tennis, billiards) and programmes (e.g. discos, holiday programmes, youth camps). They provide advice on typical youth problems, organise youth cultural events or offer seminars and workshops. Individual facilities often specialise in certain age and target groups.
