Exhibition: WILD TIMES - Kitzingen 1945-1975
In 1945, after the terrible destruction of large parts of the town by American bomber units, Kitzingen is captured and occupied by US troops. From then on, Kitzingen was a garrison town for 61 years, and it was not until 2006 that the gates of the two barracks closed for good. The project "WILDTIMES - KITZINGEN 1945 - 1975" focuses on the first 30 years, which in many respects brought great change and upheaval for the inhabitants of our town.
Special attention is paid to the influence of American culture on the adolescents of this time, who came into close contact with the GIs through the distinctive bar life with the live bands that guested there and were lastingly influenced by the music and the "American way of life", which was overwhelmingly new to them.
