Volunteering

In Kitzingen, volunteering is particularly valued and shapes the social fabric of our town. Many residents contribute their time, knowledge and passion to support clubs, initiatives and social projects. Whether in sport, culture, the social sector or at events – without volunteers, much of this would not be possible.

The town of Kitzingen greatly values this commitment and creates the right conditions to facilitate and recognise this involvement. Anyone wishing to get involved will find a wide range of opportunities to suit their own interests. Together, we are shaping a vibrant and strong Kitzingen – for today and for future generations.

Honorary Award from the City of Kitzingen

We award an honorary prize for voluntary work to up to three people each year. Well-founded nominations can be submitted by 15 June each year! The

honorary prize is intended to recognise individuals who, through their sustained efforts, have rendered outstanding service to the welfare of the town of Kitzingen and its residents.

The honorary award takes the form of a glass trophy bearing an image of the oldest town seal and is accompanied by a cash prize of 500 euros. The City of Kitzingen’s Advisory Board on Volunteering reviews the nominations received and forwards its recommendations for the award to the City Council, which makes the final decision.

Volunteering Department

To highlight the importance of volunteering in community life, the City Council has set up a dedicated department for volunteering. The department works closely with the WirKT Volunteer Centre.

WirKT Volunteer Centre

The WirKT Volunteer Centre is an organisation run by the AWO District Association and acts as a service provider for the town of Kitzingen. Upon request, it supports the town of Kitzingen’s officers in the areas of volunteering and integration.

WirKT runs the projects “Landsleute helfen Landsleuten”, “WirKT KinderPaten”, “WirKT SeniorenPaten”, the “Taschengeldbörse” and the “Frauenzimmer” at the GU Innopark.

GemeinSinn Volunteer Agency

GemeinSinn creates a network for volunteers and organisations/clubs. In addition, the volunteering agency organises training sessions on volunteering and acts as a point of contact for any enquiries regarding volunteering and those interested in volunteering.
