Description of the
The municipalities are authorised to prosecute and punish certain traffic offences (Section 24 StVG) in accordance with Section 88 of the Competence Ordinance.
- Monitoring stationary traffic (e.g. stopping and parking offences)
- Speed monitoring
- Traffic offences committed by cyclists on footpaths
- Offences against the following traffic signs
- Sign 220 (one-way street) in conjunction with sign 267 (no entry) if the traffic offence is committed by cyclists,
- Sign 237 (cycle path),
- Sign 239 (footpath),
- Sign 240 (shared footpath and cycle path),
- Sign 241 (Separate footpath and cycle path),
- Signs 242.1 and 242.2 (beginning and end of a pedestrian zone),
- Signs 244.1 and 244.2 (start and end of a cycle lane),
- Signs 325.1 and 325.2 (beginning and end of a traffic-calmed area).
Municipalities can operate traffic monitoring independently or in cooperation with other municipalities (e.g. participation in a special-purpose association).
