Description of the
The lower road traffic authorities (district administrations, independent municipalities and large district towns) can, upon application, grant parking concessions to craft businesses, commercial agents and people working in social services for a maximum period of three years under certain conditions. This may be the case, for example, if the vehicle is used as a workshop vehicle or to transport tools or materials or is absolutely necessary due to urgency or to carry out a support activity and no other parking space is available within a reasonable distance.
As proof of authorisation, the authority issues an orange parking permit with the words ''craftsman'', ''trade representative'' or ''social service''. Local responsibility lies with the authority in whose area the parking concessions are to be utilised. Further details can be obtained from the relevant authorities.
Parking concessions apply to certain vehicles (including trailers where applicable). They are limited to cases in which the use of the vehicle is absolutely necessary and no other parking space is available within a reasonable distance. The use of parking concessions must not endanger or significantly hinder third parties. A fully usable passage width of at least 1.5 metres must always remain on footpaths. Parking spaces that are reserved for severely disabled persons by means of appropriate markings may not be used. Stopping or parking, particularly in areas marked with sign 283 or sign 299 as well as marked escape routes, fire service access routes or fire service access zones, is also prohibited.

For the tradesman’s parking permit: carrying out work as defined in the Crafts and Trades Regulation Act or work of an entirely comparable nature.
Regarding the parking permit for commercial agents: The key criterion for granting the permit is that the commercial agent carries items such as samples, sample cases, etc., which are intended for presentation to customers and cannot be transported on foot over long distances. This may be due, in particular, to the weight or size of the items.
For the parking permit for social care workers: proof of employment as a member of an outpatient care service. Persons or organisations are to be regarded as working in social services if they look after a large number of people in need of assistance and care and are therefore absolutely dependent on the use of a motor vehicle and on a parking space within a reasonable distance in order to carry out their care duties on an ongoing basis. The same may apply to midwives and maternity nurses.
