Exhibition: ‘Kitzingen in Winter’
The Kitzingen Municipal Collections are dedicating an exhibition to winter and taking you on a journey of discovery through the cold season:
What festivals were traditionally celebrated during these months?
How did people cope with the cold in the past?
What stories do lights, figures and wintery objects tell?
The exhibition covers everything from festive Christmas traditions to winter sports and fun. In keeping with Loriot’s quote, ‘There used to be more tinsel’, we are showcasing, amongst other things, historical Christmas tree decorations and festive décor, as well as winter sports equipment and toys. One highlight is an electric heating pad which, in the 1960s, kept more than just the Falterturm in Kitzingen warm.
We invite you to discover the magic of the winter season and enjoy Kitzingen’s winter to the full. Have fun!
An exhibition organised by the Kitzingen Municipal Collections in collaboration with the Kitzingen City Archives.
The exhibition is open during the town hall’s opening hours.
