Fifteen heads of local authority offices or chief administrative officers from the major district towns in Bavaria were in Kitzingen recently. These senior local authority representatives meet once a year as part of a regular programme to engage in in-depth discussions. This year’s agenda included, for example, the reform of the BayKIBiG (Bavarian Children’s Education and Care Act) and its financial implications for local authorities and service providers, as well as the latest information and developments in the field of ‘digital administration’. Kitzingen, as the host, received much praise. “Our colleagues were delighted with the town hall and the atmosphere in the town centre,” reports Herbert Müller, who accompanied the guests for two days on behalf of Kitzingen’s town council. Mayor and Hofrat Walter Vierrether had invited the guests to an evening guided tour of the town. “The colleagues from southern Bavaria, in particular, hadn’t even heard of Kitzingen,” reports Müller. “They thought it was lovely.”
