The Kitzingen police station is to be relocated to a new building. The ground-breaking ceremony took place this morning, 19 October. The new station is due to be completed by September 2029. It will consist of a two- to three-storey building plus a single-storey annexe. The project is estimated to cost around 27 million euros. Working conditions in the current building on Landwehrstraße are no longer acceptable, as State Secretary Sandro Kirchner put it. Mayor Dr Enis Tiz pointed out that living in safety is not a given everywhere. The police are an important service provider for the state and its citizens. The location, directly on the B8 with good links to the A7, is perfectly chosen. The speakers emphasised the good cooperation between the various authorities. The new police station is to be accessible to all and meet high energy efficiency standards. Among other things, photovoltaic panels on the roofs and a green roof are planned.
