Pigeons have been causing problems in the centre of Kitzingen for years: Damage to buildings, soiling, complaints, health risks and an increased incidence of rats due to feeding. Many deterrent measures only displace the problem, while the animals also fall ill due to the wrong food and high costs are incurred for cleaning.
With the Kitzingen pigeon project, the city is focusing on a sustainable solution: a three-pillar concept consisting of a feeding ban, suitable pigeon accommodation including nesting management and comprehensive education and support in the event of complaints. This project is fully supported by numerous specialised agencies and local partners - including the animal welfare association, the veterinary and health authorities, the racing pigeon association and the town's building authority and building yard.
