The "House for Youth and Family" is a central, sustainable meeting place for children, young people and families in Kitzingen - with modern rooms to promote encounters, education and community.
House for Youth & Family
Idea & Concept
- This was born out of the desire for a permanent location for urban youth work.
- Objective: To bring together services for young people and families in one place.
- City Council resolution of 21 February 2019: Development on Florian-Geyer-Platz.
- Layout plan (approx. 750 m² of main floor space) featuring areas for youth work (e.g. band room, youth café, media studio), a family support centre, a playroom, offices and communal areas.
Architecture & construction
- Designed by Langensteiner Bienhaus Architects (Ettlingen) and Ramthun Landscape Architects (Baden-Baden).
- A new single-storey building constructed using a modular solid timber construction method, with full accessibility.
- Sustainable features: green roof, solar panel system, heat pump (air-source), retention areas for rainwater infiltration.
- Preservation of the tree population and effective noise insulation thanks to the building’s orientation.
- Outdoor area with football pitch, play and exercise areas.
