The idea behind it is simple: colourfully painted stones are found by local residents and visitors, photographed, taken away and left in a different spot. “In this way, every stone embarks on its own journey and tells a very personal story,” explains Christina Richard, head of the Kitzingen Tourist Information Centre. The youngest residents of Kitzingen have already painted stones at the nurseries in Sickershausen and on Schreibersgasse. An event has also taken place at the Centre for Youth and Family. “Every resident can take part too,” she assures us. Stones to paint are available at the Tourist Information Centre. On Saturday 31 October, there will also be an opportunity to paint stones at the market square as part of the Kitzingen Wine Autumn festival. By sharing the locations where the stones were found and photos (upload a photo to Instagram and tag it with the hashtag #visitkitzingen – the Tourist Information Centre will repost the photo), the travelling stones are reaching more and more people and drawing attention to Kitzingen in a charming way.
