Within just a few days, the lake in Sickershausen has undergone a radical transformation. Whilst chest-high plants were still standing in the silted-up water as recently as Monday, the area has now been completely cleared. The men from the Kitzingen municipal works department have done a thorough job. The reason for the work: during floods such as the one in June 2024, plants swept in by the floodwaters block the overflow and prevent the water from draining away . “For Sickershausen, these are small but sensible measures,” says Mayor Dr Enis Tiz, promising: “We’ll keep on top of this issue.” Next on the agenda is the optimisation of the rainwater retention basins in Hoheim and Repperndorf.
