Summer days in Kitzingen can be hot; it is not uncommon for the temperature to rise above the 30-degree mark. Now there is a welcome way for all residents to cool off. Staff from the municipal works department, with the support of LKW Kitzingen, have installed a mist shower on the market square – right next to the Kiliansbrunnen fountain. The water comes from the municipal mains supply and is channelled towards the shower via a specially laid stainless-steel water pipe. Two concrete manhole rings with a wooden cover complete the structure. At the touch of a button, residents can switch on the mist shower. They are then bathed in the refreshing mist for 20 to 30 seconds. During the summer months, the mist shower is available from 6 am until around 10 pm. For hygiene reasons, the pipe is flushed for one minute every hour. Thanks to the initiative of the municipal works department and the lorry, costs are kept within reasonable limits at around 1,500 euros.
